Man, you heard right about the baking thing. But what my friend came up with is "twice the time, half the temperature." This also helps keep the final result one smooth color without any color variations. You oughta get some Super Sculpey off of the net somewhere... it's too good.
~Perishing-Dreamer:iconPerishing-Dreamer: Jun 1, 2004, 2:52:47 PM
You deseved the fav. I noticed that too about the strange lack of people sculpting. I use regular Sculpey because that's the only thing i've found stocked in the art stores around here (and for that reason i've never tried super sculpey). I found that it works excellent for small figures, with two major shortcommings. First, it is rather brittle after being baked (though i just heard a rumor that baking it several times on lower temps produce better results, and i plan to try this method on my next piece). Secondly, because sculpey is such a maleable substance, i find that it will often collapse on itself or around the armatures underneath it, if the armature is thin enough (for example, a wire skeleton).

Hey man thanks for the fav. Good to see some more people sculpting... I can hardly find anyone who does... you use regular sculpey?

Aye, thank ye. 'Tis reassuring to see that there is at least one decent artist in this community. *had a bad experience with his first deviation if no one noticed* ~Which i might add turned me off about this place very much. But i'm gonna stick around 'till i get one more deviation up, and if things look better/more interesting, then i may stick around ^.^
